The short version

Quillstead has no accounts and no sign-up. Typing practice itself happens entirely in your browser — what you type is never sent anywhere. Your progress on each text, your practice streak, and any badges you've earned are stored only in your browser'slocalStorage, not on a server. This site uses Google Analytics and Google AdSense, both of which involve Google setting cookies — see below for what that means.

Practice progress, streaks, and badges

Quillstead tracks which lines of a text you've completed, your best accuracy on it, your daily practice streak, any badges you've earned, any student names you add to switch between children, and your attendance and hours log, entirely in your browser's localStorage. None of this is transmitted to Quillstead or anyone else — it stays on your device and disappears if you clear your browser's site data, and it isn't visible from any other device or browser.

Standard web server logs

Quillstead is hosted on Cloudflare. Like virtually any website, Cloudflare's infrastructure logs standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamp, requested URL) for security and reliability purposes. This is Cloudflare's standard operation, not something Quillstead configures or accesses individually.

Google Analytics (GA4)

This site uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (which pages are visited, roughly how, from where). Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as your approximate location, device/browser type, and on-site behavior. Google AdSense

This site runs Google AdSense to support free access to the copywork library. Once ads are actively serving, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies to show personalized ads based on your visits to this and other sites. What this site does not do

• No account creation, no login, no passwords
• No selling or sharing of personal data to third parties beyond the Google services disclosed above
• No server-side storage of your typed input, progress, or streak — all of that lives only in your browser's localStorage

Children's privacy

Quillstead is a general-audience typing practice tool and is not directed at children under 13. This site does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If Quillstead adds new data-collecting features beyond what's described above, this page will be updated to disclose that before or when it goes live.
