What to record

Most families keep a simple log: the date, roughly how long school lasted, and which subjects were covered. Some states ask for a count of days, some for hours, and some for nothing at all, so set targets only for what your state actually requires. A short note (a field trip, a co-op class, a book finished) makes the record easier to remember later and gives useful detail if you're ever asked for a portfolio.

How copywork time is counted

When a student types copywork on Quillstead, the time spent typing each line is added to that day's log under Writing / Copywork, without any extra clicks. Idle time between lines isn't counted, and a single line never adds more than five minutes.

Where your records are kept

Everything is saved in this browser on this device, separately for each student, and nothing is sent to a server. Clearing your browser's site data erases it, so print or download your record regularly, and always before the end of the school year.
